ORCHESTRAL MOCKUPS

Composer fact: We all have pieces that we want people to hear, but have no recording. We have recordings of our pieces but the performance is not to our liking, or has poor recording quality, or we don’t own the recording. Being able to share our music—to let our audiences or perspective performers hear what we wrote—is why we do what we do.

Having a true-to-life virtual performance, or mockup, is an excellent way to professionally represent your music in the best possible way to performing ensembles, film productions, and audiences. It eliminates having to second-guess what your score “sounds like” from your in-the-box playback from notation software and will bring to life music you have no recording to share. It’s also a fraction of the cost of hiring an orchestra.

Below is a selection of orchestral-oriented mockups I’ve made for several composers in the past few years. I’ve generated these mockups by carefully looking at the score, nuancing MIDI from Sibelius files, or note-by-note from handwritten and printed scores. I strive to nuance my sounds to deliver a natural orchestral performance within virtual concert spaces to achieve close-to-real-life acoustic performance scenarios for my clients. From personal experience, my mockups have surprised many internationally renowned conductors into thinking they are hearing a live recording.

In addition to orchestral mockups, I am able to create small ensemble, percussion, and keyboard recordings.
