nothinghead

an anti-concerto for violin and small ensemble

(1998)

Nothinghead's initial performance was not with a solo violin, but instead with trombone. When preparing the piece, Wally Scharold and I had trouble procuring a violin for him to solo on and the closest thing we could find was a trombone. Initially disappointed sans violin, the hilarity of Wally's performance on trombone led me to reconstruct this piece as Rutherford B. Hayes. In Nothinghead's 2nd (and final) performance, finding a violin was still difficult - it was performed with a viola.
